Brenda,
You have such a good way with words. Majorly major is perfect.

We played on the floor most of the morning. Then I had a brainstorm and let the kids 'fingerpaint' with chocolate ice cream on their table. My daughter and son-in-law will think it was a brain FART the next time they give the kids ice cream. What a giggling good time we had.

Good morning to everyone! Just think it is Saturday, my favorite day of the week. I like Saturday best because the week end is just starting and you have lots (that is kind of questionalble) of the week end left. I am not saying that my logic is always normal. Did I ever tell you guys that? NO!

Nothing much planned for the day today. We are going to stay home and do some major pitching of stuff today. I am so proud of my self. I have accomplished so much it is unbelievable. I am really getting somewhere this time. I am just looking at it and pitching. If I haven't used it is is gone!

It is a beautiful day today. The sun is shinning and it is cool. Just the perfect of days as far as I am concerned. Misty is jus****ching what is going on out there and likes it the best because of the birds out there doing their bird things. Although right now she is taking her Saturday morning bath right here in the living room. I never said that she had manners. After all she is a cat. Even though I should rephrase that and say that after all she is a princess and can do as she desires. Now her bath time is over and it now play time. Oh the fun that she has. I wish that my life had just a portion of the fun she has.

Nothing new on the job front for Bill. Talks have shut down until Tuesday and so it just stays the same. But they did call for a strike vote and it passed. I just hate the not knowing. I have given it over to God and so it isn't as bad as it was before. I want to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement that you all wrote.

I guess I had better get to moving. Things to do and people not to see. No one is planned on arriving at my front door at least. I am sending lots of love and plenty of hugs to go with it. I am keeping everyone in my prayers and special ones are going up for those in need of them. Have a wonderful Saturday and make time to enjoy yourself.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Aloha and good early morning my OFF sisters and brothers!

It is VERY EARLY ..... 4:30 a.m.......and I'm showered, powdered, painted and ready to go to the hospital to test "my babies." It is very quiet right now...and the only thing I can hear is the ocean outside my door, and a little breeze through the palms. My windows are open wide, of course. I LOVE this time of morning almost a much as I love the sunrise ... which I will miss because I'll be gone before it rises over the ocean today.

Debbie...you are WONDER WOMAN in my eyes! Anyone who can remodel their own bathroom is right up there with my other heros in life. I get excited when I change the rubber thingy in my vacuum cleaner!! (and it works and doesn't smell like burning rubber!). Ha! I'll pay your way to Hawaii if you'll remodel my kitchen!! (**smile**)

It's hard to believe that summer is over......and Labor Day has come and gone. This is the time of year that it can get HOT on Maui! I moved here in September of 2001 (one week after 9/11) and I thought I would die it was so hot. I used to put my head in the freezer frequently! Either I've acclimated, or it isn't as hot as it used to be because I still have not turned on my A/C this year. However, I live where we have cooling tradewinds almost constantly, while down in Lahaina it swelters almost every day.

There are so many newcomers to the OFF, and I welcome you all with open arms. I guess I can consider myself an "old timer" since I've been here since way before my surgery in 2006.....and am proud to say that there is less than 1/2 of me sitting at this computer than there was back in 2006!! That is what newcomers have to look forward to...........it's a transformation that is so life changing and in ways that I never even considered. I am 65, and I feel like I'm 35! I can do things that I didn't dream I could do two years ago.....like lifting boxes and sitting down on the floor to do work behind my desk, etc. I get excited when I think about new people and what they have to look forward to. At my support group last week, a newcomer asked me to be her "angel" and I happily said "of course!" She will have surgery in a month or two.

My sweet little OFF family.......I'm sorry I haven't been around as much as before. I come in every day, but don't always have time to post. Yesterday at work I had some free time, and tried to log on, but I couldn't remember my password.....Ha! I tried several and none worked. But I did get a chance to read about all of you...and you make me proud to be one of you, over and over again!

Please take care of yourselves, and know that someone across the ocean is one of your proudest cheerleaders.....your sister, your friend.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hi Deb and my OFF family:

I must have been so tired last night at work ... I had a major brain fart -- sent out a page with nothing on it! It was a stocks page -- the mutual funds page. I put the template on it, so it had the little box that said how to read this page, but there was no other type. So Dee, who was in charge of production last night, comes out and asks who's doing business. I said, it's me and she said the mutuals page has nothing on it. So I open up the page and sure enough, there's no type there. Well, I had put the type on the page but forgot to compose it. Duh! I told her to chalk it up to a senior moment.

My sister-in-law e-mailed me about a party Sept. 20 for her birthday and my brother Gary ... their birthdays are both in September. I really want to go, but it's too much to spend in gas to go to Chicago. I really miss seeing my family. I took this job for two reason: closer to home and better pay. Now I can't go home because gas costs too much. It would cost me $80 to go home (and no, taking the train wouldn't be cheaper ... it would cost just about the same because I would have to take one train from Grand Rapids to Chicago, and then another from Chicago to Franklin Park, where my mom lives ... and then I'm stuck doing everything on their time and not when I want to travel). Talked to my mom ... she didn't know about the get-together yet, but she understood why I couldn't come. With a dryer repair staring me in the face (can't afford that yet either) and the recliner repair coming up, just can't afford to do anything much.

I volunteered for some overtime tomorrow; have to go in during the afternoon to edit a music review and paginate a page. Should take a couple of hours tops. Then I go in later in the evening for the movie filming. My editor said they will call me and tell me what color to wear. Here's more info on the film:

http://www.mlive.com/movies/index.ssf/2008/09/more_on_the_st eam_experiment_m.html

What's funny is Eric Roberts is in this movie, and he was in the last movie I saw filmed when I worked in Anaconda, Mont. ... "Runaway Train." That movie was filmed in an old rail yard ... wound up they only used one scene that they shot after a whole week of filming, and that was of the stuntman falling off the train. So our scene in the newsroom is liable to get cut too.

No other big plans for the weekend. Already exercised; baseball games are on tap ... the White Sox need to keep winning to stay in first but it'll be tough -- their top slugger went down with a broken wrist and is gone for the season. Plus, their third baseman has a bad back. Boy, can I relate!

Deb, you are a marvel doing your own bathroom. My friend Rox remodeled her bathrooms in her first home; I couldn't do anything like that. I was happy I could put the PUR filter on my faucet without calling Larry the Handyman (who takes payment in zucchini bread and fruit and fiber muffins). Don't know what I would do without Larry!

Well, have a good day. Talk to ya tomorrow.

Hi Debbie and all,

Just enjoying my Saturday.
Was surprized to see I am down on the scale again. Only 1/2 lb from goal! Can't believe it!
Not too much going on here, nice day thank goodness...hope to do some scrapbooking and walking on treadmill...
Geeze, can't think of much to say!
Thinking of you all with troubled hearts and sending up prayers.

Will pop back in if something exciting happens or I figure out something to say!

we are on day 4 of interrupted or no cable and internet- very inconvenient! am hoping it is tsill on long enuff for me to post this hello!

did the plasma thing last nite and spent all of the pay at lowe's for paint and repair stuff...bummer....then to the grocery store for some pretty essentials and now broke...so much for trying to save anything for anything....

yesterday was the doc visit re michael's hip--he has to have a bone scan done monday-possibly the "leg" portion of the implant is turning...so no fun for him- very discouraging visit actually - his other hip is not looking good either but doc doesn't suggest replacement til absolutely necessary.... and of course, monday's scan means i will need to miss more work-make up the time...i do thank goodness for flexibility in that way with my job.

this morning we went to pay respects for our neighbor- very sad....closed casket too- his wife says that the chemo was what actually killed him and the mortuary suggested to close the lid...he had been out in our garden with michael just a few days before-looking weak but smiling his contagious smile! michael is not doing well with this at all....

did some shopping and came home to try to get stuff done for family reunion- needing to do som eprinting of stuff from online and so upset about teh internet going out on it's own-have spoken to the ppl numerous times- they have no clue whatis wrong-just that they have techs working on it....

i have been on a very short fuse these past few days and today has been no better...something has to change soon...

sending hugs and prayers.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hi all,

I am still around just not online much. Dealing with daughters separtion, helping her and the girls. I'm trying to get my food under control. I am not overeating it is the opposite, I get breakfast and dinner in but nothing in between also not near enough water.  Saw the psychologist yesterday she suggested I pack a lunch and healthy snack and get a big water thingie to take on my travels between our house, daughters, school. errands etc, just as if I was going to work.  Duh!! Made sense why didn't I think of that. I even have a little 6 pack cooler I can put it in to keep it cold. Also slipping a pre- made protein drink in.

I miss being on the OH boards, no time lately. Hugs, to you all, Paulette

Here's my second post for today.

After my solitary pity party and complaining about the daughters, they showed that they actually have MY genes as well as their Dad's.

Anne-Marie apologized for not immediately offering to come take care of me. Her recent health problems have knocked her for a loop and her mind isn't up to par.

Mary has offered her help and support too. I guess with 2 kids, 18 months apart, she is sleep deprived and not on her game either.

My fears overpowered any common sense.

The support from my OFF family has been fantastic AS ALWAYS!!

Kisses

Hi all,
I want to thank everyone for the PM"s. I still dont how to deal with my crazy husband, but time will tell me how to do and so will god.
I went in to work today for a while cause we needed another stylist for the morning and I was supposed to be off today but I thought it would be better if I went into work so I did.
later I am going over to my Cousins house to figure out how to use my Cricut Die cutter machine I got.
